Robert Kluijver

Robert Kluijver (b. 1968) is and independent analyst, researcher, curator, lecturer and writer. Kluijver has worked for Gemak in the Hague the Netherlands, where he curated exhibitions with contemporary artists form Iraq Green Zone / Red Zone (2007), Afghanistan Future Afghanistan (2008), Palestina Niemandsland (2008) and Israel Beloofde Land (2009). Between 1997 and 2006 he worked as a political development-aid worker, researcher and cultural manager in Afghanistan, Central Asia and the Middle East. In addition, Robert Kluijver regularly writes about developments in the arts in the Middle East. In 2010 he published Borders. Contemporary Middle Eastern Art and DiscourseIn 2011, together with Neil van der Linde, he created The Gulf Art Guide a comprehensive website with information and background articles on contemporary art from the Middle East.

At Framer Framed, he curated the triptych Crisis of History – Art, Memory and Resistance in the Middle East (2014-2015), and was involved with the public programs for each of the exhibitions. He is currently working as a consultant and academic in Somalia and Ethiopia.
