Framer Framed

Léon Kruijswijk

Léon Kruijswijk is a freelance cultural producer and researcher. He attained his BA Cultural Studies at the University of Amsterdam (UvA). Subsequently, he obtained his MA degree Cultural Heritage; Museum Studies (UvA). He has a special interest in the modern and contemporary art museum and in what way these institutions attempt to write art history. In addition he obtained his MA degree Art History: Contemporary Art and Theory (UvA), during which he focused on art and politics.

Besides his academic education, Kruijswijk completed an internship at Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen and worked for the Nieuwe Kerk, Hermitage Amsterdam and DutchCulture | TransArtists. Between 2014 and 2017 he also co-ordinated the exhibitions at Framer Framed. He organised the Framer Framed Queer Series between 2016-2019, multiple talks and presentations aiming to highlight, contextualize as well as question queer elements of artworks, art collections and art archives. In 2019 he received a curatorial fellowship at KW Institute for Contemporary Art in Berlin.
