Stay Strong Photo Stories
These are strange times. Due to the lockdown and other corona-related measures, the days appear to flow into one another. It is a time that demands enormous adaptability from us. We must be strong and patient.
Everyone experiences this time differently. The Stay Strong workshop aims to teach participants to tell their own stories and visualise their daily life through photography.
This photo project was organised by Framer Framed and photographer Karine Versluis from the Picture Bridge Foundation. The target group of this project is young people aged 16-24 who either reside or go to school in Amsterdam-Oost. The emphasis in the workshops is on the stories behind the photos. Participants learn to communicate this by taking photos based on concrete assignments. Central to the workshops are visual storytelling, photography theory, technique and exercises. The workshops are for every level. Each class ends with a homework assignment that will be discussed in the following workshop. The assignments cost a maximum of one hour per week, but can also take longer – depending on the commitment of the participant. Photos can be taken with a mobile phone or a digital camera.
The photos will be published on the website and social media of both Framer Framed and the Picture Bridge Foundation. This can, of course, also be done anonymously. Participants will also receive the photos sent to their homes by post as a keepsake.
