Bülent Evren Bülent Evren
Bülent Evren (Isparta, 1955) was affiliated with a group of artists working in the neo-geo style at the start of his artistic career. As his career progressed, he began to draw inspiration from mythology, with the mythological figures of Ares, the god of war, and Aphrodite, the goddess of love, playing prominent roles in his later work. He primarily paints with oil on aluminum plates, which he cuts into specific shapes. Evren has participated in a number of solo and group exhibitions and has also been involved in the arts community as an advisor and board member for various arts organisations. Additionally, he has worked as a graphic and stage designer at theatres as Theater Rast, co-organizer at various exhibitions, and guest teacher at the Rietveld Academy.
He attended Ateliers ’63 in Haarlem from 1981-1983, and previously studied Economics at EDC in Paris, France between 1976-1979, and Journalism at EFAP in Paris, France 1975-1976. Evren’s work can be found in several prestigious collections such as the Gemeentemuseum in The Hague, the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, the Museum Kruithuis in Den Bosch, the Collection Municipality of Amsterdam, and the ABN-AMRO Kunstcollectie in Amsterdam.
Bülent Evren is one of the contributing artists of the exhibition Scattered: Hidden Narratives Through Archives (2023) curated by Nesli Gül which takes place from 3 March to 16 April at Framer Framed, Amsterdam.
