Save the Date – Between Fires: Irradiated Imaginations & Anti-Nuclear Solidarities
We are happy to announce our collaboration with Sonic Acts Biennial 2026! Taking place in Amsterdam from 5 February to 29 March 2026 and spread over 80 events across 15 venues, the biennial programme features cutting-edge performances, contemporary sound experiments, and multidisciplinary art by over 200 artists. In partnership with the biennial Framer Framed presents a new exhibition, Between Fires: Irradiated Imaginations & Anti-Nuclear Solidarities, curated by Fabienne Rachmadiev.
The Sonic Acts Biennial unfolds across multiple venues and curatorial frameworks. At its centre is the Biennial’s main exhibition Melted for Love, spanning W139, Arti et Amicitiae, and Rozenstraat, accompanied by a satellite exhibition at Het Documentaire Paviljoen / IDFA Institute and a special collaboration with Framer Framed. Alongside the exhibition programme, the Biennial will host an extensive programme of film screenings, artist talks and exhibition tours.
The exhibition Melted for Love explores how home is renegotiated under climate catastrophe, colonialism and forced displacement, bringing together installations, films, sound works, and performances that reflect on how land, bodies and ecosystems are shaped and altered by exploitative forces. By listening for what remains, it turns to gestures of caring love for land and community as a practice of resistance and repair.
On the occasion of the Sonic Acts Biennial, Framer Framed presents Between Fires: Irradiated Imaginations and Anti-Nuclear Solidarities (13 February to 17 May 2026) an exhibition curated by Fabienne Rachmadiev, which examines the entanglements between nuclear infrastructures, colonialism and resistance. Central to this programme is a joint commission by buulbuul, The Burial of a Brown Goose, which channels grief, rage and intergenerational care through a recreated bird burial shaped by human mimicry of bird calls, distorted nuclear soundscapes and Central Asian instruments. Additional participating artists include Asel Kadyrkhanova, Almagul Menlibayeva, Kamila Narysheva & Vicky Clarke, with further programme details to follow soon.
More information and workshop open calls will be available soon.
