LIMBO #2 Booklet Launch

On 20 July, LIMBO launches their second booklet, giving a glimpse into their experiences of the past few years. LIMBO, a collaborative project initiated by researcher Fabian Holle and heritage professional Noa Bawits, examines the role of art in queer refugees’ lives in the Netherlands. It aims to create a safe space where queer individuals with a refugee experience can explore themes such as identity, transformation and community.

LIMBO explores how research can be mutually beneficial – generating knowledge and redistributing resources between queer refugee communities, academic and art institutions, organisers and artists. At the heart of this work is a shared commitment to ‘holding space’ that is safer for queer refugee perspectives to be heard, felt, and seen.

After the first workshops, hosted by Framer Framed from 2022 to 2024, LIMBO moved to the Vrije Universiteit, Makers Unite and finally to Lola Lieven. In 2024, the workshops continued with a grant from ILGA-Europe and a new team of space holders, facilitators and volunteers from the LIMBO community.

Join for a festive afternoon to celebrate the launch of the second LIMBO booklet inside the installation of THE TAIL by Maison the Faux, a performance installation exploring themes of transformation, belonging and self-determination closely aligned with LIMBO’s explorations. Use the glamour table to get ready and enjoy an afternoon of art, food, music, rhythm dance and celebration.
