Book Fair: Notes to Other Futures
To celebrate the more-than-fifteen-year history of Framer Framed, and the launch of our new anniversary publication, we’re hosting a book fair!
We view publishing as a means of sharing resources, thinking collectively and focusing on the accessibility of ideas as well as the final product. So for this book fair, we’re hosting collectives, artists, activists and independent publishers who contribute to a rich culture of subversive publishing and engage with urgent topics at the intersection of research, politics, art and culture. We invite everyone to discover new books and connect with peers.
Everyone is welcome and admission is free.
On the occasion of the 15th anniversary of Framer Framed we take the opportunity to present a new publication: Notes to Other Futures: Fifteen Years of Framer Framed. This anthology explores the ongoing development of alternative practices at Framer Framed and the continuous engagement in radical pedagogy, community organising and collaborative exhibition-making – re-examining history from a multiplicity of perspectives.
In the last fifteen years, long-standing norms such as the autonomy of art, the neutrality of exhibition spaces, and the hegemony of Western art history have been increasingly questioned. This has been sparked by protest movements, shifts in academic discourse, and the amplified voices of communities long excluded from cultural institutions. In response, artistic and curatorial approaches have emerged that foreground relationality and re-examine history from a multiplicity of perspectives. Notes to Other Futures (2026) reflects a commitment to work towards possible futures: ones imagined collectively, embedded in solidarity and open to transformation. It explores the ways of working, remembering, and acting that shape the continuous learning and becoming of a cultural organisation firmly rooted in society.
Pre-order the publication Notes to Other Futures here.
In the spirit of this approach, we’ve invited old friends, long-time collaborators, admired peers and future friends to share their own books and publishing practices. Throughout the day, you can visit the stands of each publisher, enjoy food and drinks provided by The Migrant Kitchen & Het Rode Keukentje, and join for the book presentation and anniversary party. This presentation is also a moment to thank all our collaborators and visitors for their support over the years.
There is also a chance to redesign your old T-shirts, jackets or bags with a screen-printing session! Drop off your choice of textile before 14:00 and choose one of four Framer Framed related designs. It is also possible to buy a plain tote bag to print. The printing is free, but donations are welcome.
