About the part that art plays in a globalising society

Setareh Noorani

Setareh Noorani is an architect, researcher at The New Institute, ‘zinester’ and member of the experimental music collective Zenevloed. In her projects and creative endeavours, she uses different media to explore ways of unfolding and embodying, questioning processes of trauma and time, always in the grey area between academic and artistic research. This includes the examination, disruption and unfolding of archives through spatial research and cathartic self-publishing practices. As a researcher and practitioner, Setareh focuses on qualitative, paradigm-shifting notions of decoloniality, feminisms, queer ecologies, agency (non-institutional, non-authorial), and implications of the collective, more-than-the-human body in architecture, its heritage and its multi-vocal future. Setareh holds an MSc in Architecture (cum laude) from TU Delft.

Together with Jelmer Teunissen, Setareh Noorani is the spatial designer of the group project A Funeral for Street Culture (2021), curated by Rita Ouédraogo and Metro54 at Framer Framed, Amsterdam.
