Museumnacht Amsterdam 2024
For Museumnacht Amsterdam 2024, Framer Framed collaborated with Foam to bring an exciting programme to the centre of the city. The activities of the evening deconstructed the concept of ‘glamour’, exploring its deeper meanings and critically examining the fashion systems that uphold beauty ideals from a queer perspective. During the co-curated evening, Foam and Framer Framed worked to bridge the practice of our two organisation, breaking new ground for collaborative programming.
Please note: This event took place at Foam, Amsterdam.
The theme for Museumnacht Amsterdam 2024 at Foam was Deconstructing glamour. Together with Framer Framed the programmed aimed to deconstruct glamour by dissecting its elements, exploring its meaning, and critiquing the fashion systems that perpetuate specific ideals. From a queer perspective, glamour becomes a powerful tool for self-expression and resistance against mainstream norms. Queer glamour celebrates individuality, diversity, and the breaking of heteronormative boundaries, offering a more inclusive and expansive understanding of what glamour can be. The fashion industry plays a significant role in shaping cultural norms and ideals, often perpetuating specific standards of beauty and glamour that can be exclusionary and unrealistic.
By deconstructing these standards and highlighting the consequences of these ideals on self-esteem and societal values, we hope to foster a dialogue for a more equitable and realistic understanding of the notion of beauty.
Programme
Beauty Basics by Timothy Paul
Time: 19:30–22:10
Driven by the mantra that beauty has no boundaries, Timothy Paul has made it his mission to make every kind of person look and feel beautiful. His driving force is the belief that beauty should be crafted and accessible to everyone. With this in mind, he has always strived to make everyone beautiful, carefully carving out spaces for people who traditionally have been left out of the beauty conversation.
The workshop included a 30-minute demo done on a live model, followed by a Q&A segment.

Aynouk Tan (she/they) is a writer, curator, moderator, consultant and public speaker on gender, decolonisation, (queer) identity and appearance. Tattooing your digital glamorous self with The Hmm
Time: 19:00–02:00
The Hmm presented a fun workshop exploring the concept of online personas. Visitors could discover how their digital identity differs from their real-life selves and how we’re able to curate different versions across platforms.
