Framer Framed

Yahmani Blackman en Dorothy Blokland

Yahmani Blackman

Yahmani Blackman (b. 1989) is an expressive actress, theatrical producer,  and teacher from Amsterdam. Besides acting and making theatre in different productions (a.o. de Engelenbak, JTSZO, LostProject) she started to perform more and more self-written pieces and presented at festivals like Afrovibes, BlackMagicWoman, Bijlmer Boekt and GoGoGo. Yahmani Blackman, inspired by the Framer Framed exhibition Re(as)sisting Narratives, created a performance with Dorothy Blokland for Museumnacht Amsterdam 2016, which was in collaboration with the Tolhuistuin. Last year she created her first children’s performance with forty children in the BijlmerParkt Theater for the children’s book festival. She graduated from the Amsterdam School of the Arts in 2018.

Together with Dorothy Blokland, they form the theatre duo Blackman & Blokland, and in 2018 they realised the play We’re Going to Talk About Her under the final direction of Milone Reigman.
