Mohamed Abdelkarim
Mohamed Abdelkarim (1983) is a performer and cultural producer. After he had written his Master’s thesis of knowledge engagement at ECAV in Switzerland, Abdelkarim turned toward producing text-based performances. Among other places, Abdelkarim currently lives and works in Caïro, Egypt. His performances have been included in Guild Master of Cabaret Voltaire Manifesta11 (Zürich), Sofia Underground Performance Art Festival (Sofia), and Live Works Performance Act Award Vol.5, 37°EDIZIONE DRODESERA (Italy).
The script of Abdelkarim’s performative works bears witness to the research experience. A reflection on production and cultural genealogy requires that the emphasis is on the process. As in story telling, the process is open-ended, and the montage is non-linear.
Abdelkarim’s work was part of the exhibition House of Wisdom at Framer Framed from 24 November 2017 till 7 January 2018.
