Michèle Boulogne is a 2025 recipient of Amsterdams Fonds voor de Kunst’s 3Package Deal, nominated by the coalition of Framer Framed, Waag, and Hackers & Designers.
Michèle Boulogne is an artist and textile designer, working at the intersection of textile craftsmanship, spatial representation, and technology. For her year long research, Boulogne will engage in textile experiments inspired by Kalingo basketry, a technique deeply rooted in the Caribbean archipelago. This weaving practice is a symbol of resilience, cultural continuity, and inter-island connections. Additionally, she is developing a publication exploring the ties between Dominica and Martinique, two neighbouring islands that appear to be worlds apart.
Based in Amsterdam and Martinique, Boulogne researches the history of the Caribbean, regularly subverts geographic representation tools such as maps, remote sensing imagery or historical texts. She questions the influence of these instruments in the cultural imagination of the environment. Her artworks translate these explorations into visual collages of textiles.

About
Each year, Amsterdams Fonds voor de Kunst (AFK) selects international artists based in Amsterdam to support through their 3Package Deal programme. They form coalitions of renowned art institutions from Amsterdam per art discipline, who then nominate recipients for that year.
Framer Framed works together with Waag Futurelab and Hackers & Designers within the field of Social Design. Previous Framer Framed awardees of the 3Package Deal include Thais di Marco (2024), Mary Farwy (2023) and Yara Said (2022).
