In its work, the Freies Museum Berlin focuses on the promotion and presentation of artistic actions, artist movements, and new artistic developments in the local, national and international context.
The Freies Museum Berlin presents retrospective as well as current exhibitions on influential artistic concepts and ideas and art movements that changed the perception and understanding of art, in some cases for just a few years and in others for decades to the present day, as well as forward-looking perspectives in art.
At the same time, actions by artists from all over the world are brought together and presented, both from the art metropolises in the USA, England, France and Germany and from countries such as the Philippines, Cuba, Iran, India, Senegal, and Slovenia. Future work in this field will focus on intensive research in the countries of Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Eastern Europe.
