Yohannes Biru (he/him) is originally from Ethiopia and has been living in the Netherlands for the past two and a half years. His art primarily explores themes of gay love and physical intimacy. He first began drawing these subjects after being inspired by messages he received on dating apps. Since then, he has been commissioned to draw people and friends who want to have personal representations of themselves. He is part of the organizing and spaceholder team for the LIMBO collective workshops for queer refugees: “a space that has been deeplymeaningful to me and has given me the confidence to share my drawings with others”.
