Gathering: Shaax iyo Sheeko

On 15 December at 15:00, Framer Framed hosts Shaax iyo Sheeko, a relaxed tea gathering in a pop-up café format organised by the Saaxiib Community. The event takes place after the guided tour of the current exhibition The Anarchist Citizenship: People Made of Stories, which examines how storytelling, visual culture, architecture and social life (re)shape citizenship in Somaliland, the Somali region and its diaspora. Shaax iyo Sheeko seeks to create connections, provide a supportive community space, and encourage the sharing of experiences and goals. With the use of curated discussion cards, attendees can enjoy meaningful conversations.

Saaxiib Community is founded by Kadigia, Saharla and Samiya, three Somali young women raised in the Netherlands. The word Saaxiib (pronounced ‘Saa-heeb’) means ‘friend’ in Somali. Their mission is to build a community centred around friendship, connection, and positive vibes. They created the community to offer a welcoming space where people can come together, support one another, and celebrate their own culture in an uplifting and inclusive environment.

This event is in English and Dutch. Admission is free.
