Het Fort van Sjakoo bookshop is located in the centre of Amsterdam since 1977. The building was squatted as part of a wider protest on the route of a planned highway right through the inner-city Nieuwmarkt neighbourhood and is legalized since 1988.
The bookshop is run by a collective of 10 volunteers. Het Fort van Sjakoo provides information ranging from the latest news and publications to background info and history. Aside from a wide selection of libertarian, political and sociocritical literature, the bookshop also focuses on foreign publications, music and magazines.
