Iwona Demko

Iwona Demko is a visual artist and femmenist*. In 2001, she graduated from the Faculty of Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, where she has been working as a professor since 2008. She has participated in over 160 exhibitions in Poland and abroad. She is a curator of feminist exhibitions, researcher of the history of the first female students at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, and an author of a book about Zofia Baltarowicz-Dzielińska. She initiated and organised “Year of Women from the Academy of Fine Arts”, devoted to the 100-year presence of women at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. The main theme of her works is women and their role in the patriarchal world. Her flag color in life and art is pink.

Since 2016, one of her activities has been herstorical empathy based on authentic archival materials.
