Ciema Silva de Melo

Ciema Silva de Melo is an anthropologist and has been working in anthropological research and education for more than twenty years. She received her PhD in Anthropology at the Federal University of Pernambuco. She is currently the Vice-Coordinator of Museu do Homem do Nordeste. de Melo participated in the panel discussion Cultural Heritage and Knowledge on 7 November 2010 at Framer Framed, realised in collaboration with Arts Collaboratory and Reinwardt Academy.

She has also recently written articles with Maria Fernanda Pinheiro de Oliviera which deal with the relation between the ideas of New Museology and recent transformations of the Museu do Homen do Nordeste. de Melo considers the concept of the museum as an organic process in relation to their social context.
