Finissage: Remembering Otherwise

On 11 November, you’re warmly invited to the finissage of Remembering Otherwise, a solo exhibition by artist belit sağ in close collaboration with curator Katia Krupennikova. The exhibition gives life to the stories of sixty-five migrant women from Turkey and the pivotal labour dispute led by them in 1978.

The finissage wraps up the exhibition by bringing the act of remembering back to its source: the migrant women workers from Turkey. Three of the women interviewed throughout the project join sağ in conversation about their experiences of working at the onion factory and the labour dispute in 1978. Their memories serve as the connecting thread between all the works and archival materials present in the exhibition. The conversation is preceded by a short introduction by belit sağ in front of the main piece of the exhibition: a woven tapestry piece titled Weaving Solidarity. The conversation is followed by live music, food and drinks.
