Úna Henry is the Director of the Willem de Kooning Academy, Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences since 2023. She was the founding director of the Avans Master Institute, and between 2018-2022 she was Head of the Master Institute of Visual Cultures and the St. Joost School of Art at the Avans University of Applied Sciences. She has extensive experience in higher education, combined with knowledge of arts research at the intersection of civic engagement, environmental and cultural thought, expanded through technology, economics and science.
With a background as an artist and curator, Úna received her doctorate in Fine Art from the Ruskin School of Fine Art, University of Oxford in 2017. She serves on several boards, amongst which the European League of Institutes of the Arts (ELIA), the board of directors at CASE (Centre for Arts and Sciences Education), the board at Stichting Hierdoor tot Hooger, and she is an advisory Board member for the EU4Ocean Coalition for Ocean Literacy.
