Deniz Buga is an artist born in Istanbul (1982) and based in Amsterdam. His art practice primarily explores urbanism, minority politics, and queer rights through film, video, and photography. His notable project, Occupy Series, captures the Occupy Amsterdam movement of 2011-2012 through photographs highlighting the power of the human body in claiming space. His works have been showcased at film festivals and museums such as Oberhausen Short Film Festival, San Sebastian Film Festival, Oxford Modern Art Museum, Van Abbemuseum, and C/O Berlin. Deniz holds a degree in history and sociology from Bogazici University Istanbul and in film production from New York University. He was a resident artist at Rijksakademie, Amsterdam from 2011-2012.

Deniz Buga is one of the contributing artists of the exhibition Scattered: Hidden Narratives Through Archives (2023) curated by Nesli Gül which takes place from 3 March to 16 April at Framer Framed, Amsterdam.
