Andreas Weber is an assistant professor for Science, Technology, and Culture at the University of Twente. He has received his PhD from Leiden University in 2012 with a dissertation titled: Hybrid Ambitions: Science, Governance, and Empire in the Career of Caspar Georg Carl Reinwardt (1773-1854). Most of his research focuses on the history of natural history, chemistry and material practices in the context of the former Dutch empire in insular Southeast Asia. He also studies how the rise of digitization in natural history museums reshapes our understanding of nature and colonialism. Andreas is also editor the book series Emergence of Natural History (ENH).
