Tieneke Sumter

Tieneke Sumter (she/her) has been an advocate for social justice and queer rights in the Netherlands and Suriname for over 40 years. At a young age she was involved in the Surinamese Gay Organization (SUHO), the Black lesbian literary group Sister Outsider and later in the LGBT Platform Suriname and Survibes, an advocacy organisation for queer people of color in the Netherlands. Tieneke currently works at COC Nederland as senior Community and Network associate.
