Farah Fayyad
Farah Fayyad is a graphic designer and printmaker from Beirut, Lebanon. Classically trained in calligraphy, Farah strives to preserve the traditional structure and behaviour of the Arabic script while experimenting with tools and form. Her practice aims to produce contemporary Arabic typography that draws on the past without strictly following its stylistic conventions. Farah’s work primarily lies in the cultural sector, with a special focus on bilingual editorial design. Her practice also involves a lot of play with screen-printing in terms of experimentation, teaching and publicly performing the craft as interventions or performances. Farah is currently based between Beirut and Amsterdam.
