About the part that art plays in a globalising society

Fajar Abadi

Fajar Abadi engages with the many layers of language related to culinary arts. By organising cooking sessions and performative workshops, he explores the knowledge and cultures of food and tastes of people, and their connotations to the past.

For the exhibition Sensible Past: Of Distances and the Fabrication of the Frame, a collaboration between Framer Framed, KITLV and the Integrated Arts programme at UNPAR, he integrated old cookbook recipes published in Indonesia into his cooking sessions and invited the public to experience the past through eating and sharing conversations.
