Amira Gad

Amira Gad is an Egyptian art curator and writer who was born in France and grew up in Saudi Arabia. She is currently based in Rotterdam working as Conservator of Modern & Contemporary Art at Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen (Rotterdam, the Netherlands). Together with Christina Li, she’s curating Sonsbeek 2026, Europe’s oldest public art exhibition. Gad is a prominent figure in the international art world with a strong background in curating large-scale exhibitions and working with renowned contemporary artists. Previously held positions include Serpentine Galleries (London), KANAL-Centre Pompidou (Brussels) and Kunstinstituut Melly (Rotterdam). Over the years, she has curated exhibitions by Ian Cheng, Sondra Perry, Arthur Jafa, Hito Steyerl, Zaha Hadid, Simon Denny, Lynette Yiadom-Boakye, to name a few. Her exhibitions have taken place at various institutions globally, from across Europe to the Middle-East and China. She sits on a number of juries and advisory boards, is a regular lecturer and contributor to artists’ catalogs as well as has edited an array of books on contemporary art.
