Opening: Framer Framed Noord
On 14 March 2026, Framer Framed officially opens the doors of Framer Framed Noord, a new project space for art and culture in Amsterdam-Noord where local knowledge, collective practices and artistic research come together.
With this new location, Framer Framed continues its long-running activities in Amsterdam Noord and emphasises the importance of accessible art and culture in strengthening social connection, imagination and shared ownership.
During the opening, visitors can take part in workshops for all ages starting at 16:00 and enjoy freshly baked bread. After the workshops, the opening celebration begins with doors open from 17:30, followed by the official opening by district councillor Esther Lagendijk. Throughout the evening, there will be a buffet and visitors can experience a varied cultural programme in different rooms.
Framer Framed Noord will become the new home of Werkplaats Molenwijk, Framer Framed’s project space that since 2018 has offered space for artists’ residencies, art education and co-creation projects with neighbourhood residents. The renovated building at Zuideinde 369 (Z369 – Social and Cultural Centre) will be programmed together with Buurtkamer Zuideinde 369 and Muziekschool Amsterdam Noord.
Programme
16:00 – 17:30 Art, music and bread
Inside, children (6+) can take part in a workshop by Studio Dicky & Daadje, where they create their own neighbourhood superhero. Adults can join an embroidery workshop led by residents of Molenwijk from the Molenwijk door Elkaar Textile Atelier. For those who prefer a moment of calm, there will be a traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony.
Meanwhile, the other rooms will fill with sounds from the music school – you can try out instruments yourself or listen to performances by the neighbourhood string quartet and a local youth band.
Outside, artist Sabine Aerts will lead a neighbourhood knitting workshop, where participants will create a collective piece of wild knitting together. Artists Anita Kluge and Peik Suyling from BuurOven will fire up warm ovens outside, where visitors can learn how to bake their own bread.
18:00 – 21:00 Opening, buffet and drinks
District councillor Esther Lagendijk will officially open the new location. Afterward, we will gather for a buffet of soup, bread and dips, prepared by Karam Keuken and the Kookbrigade. We end this special day with a performance and drinks for everyone present.
