Presentation: Moving Love

From 26 June to 13 August 2026, Framer Framed hosts the presentation Moving Love, a project by Impact Makers in collaboration with LIMBO and Skill School, for and by queer refugees. Moving Love is about the journey one takes to stay true to who they are and who they love – and for queer people, this journey is often riddled with uncertainty and risk. The project Moving Love aims to widen the focus of queer stories, which often centre on fear and precarity, by sharing accounts of hope in which love supersedes fear of consequence.

In the making of the film project and presentation Moving Love, Impact Makers brought together fifteen queer refugees from around the world for a series of workshops designed to familiarise participants with various aspects of film-making.

Film functions as an effective means to convey dozens of messages, which can otherwise be difficult to encapsulate in words. Following the film-making workshops, ten participants created a short cinematic two-piece: ten unique, authentic works that range from powerful political statements to intimate love letters, each exploring identity and the strength to keep going.

By facilitating the creation of their own pieces, Impact Makers sought to place control over the creative process in the hands of participants, allowing them to reclaim the agency that they have so often been denied. Around the world, queer rights are increasingly under pressure with the rise of fascism. In 61 countries, being gay is still criminalised, and in 7, it is punishable by death. To counter a climate of fear and hostility, Moving Love fulfils a call for stories rooted in hope, connection and love.
