Welcoming Ritual: Flour Drawings with Anita Kluge
Local artist Anita Kluge hosts the first workshop of the project Bread Art in Molenwijk. On Mother’s Day, May 11th from 13:00 – 15:00, neighbourhood residents are invited to take part in the Indian Rangoli welcoming ritual, in which colourful flour drawings are made at the entrance of Werkplaats Molenwijk. During the workshop, Anita will talk about Hindu hospitality traditions: “Every guest is a god.”
Kneading, Sharing & Baking
Welcoming Ritual: Flour Drawings is the first workshop of Bread Art in Molenwijk, a series of workshops and activities centred around cultural rituals and creative traditions involving bread, from flour drawings to sculpting with dough and baking installations made of bread. Residents are invited by artist-in-residence Tina Lenz to share their own bread traditions and recipes and to collectively develop artistic activities in the neighbourhood with a group of artists. The results will be exhibited in October at Werkplaats Molenwijk. For more information, visit framerframed.nl/werkplaatsmolenwijk.
During the workshop, local residents will use the BuurOven (‘Neighbour Oven’) to share fresh naan bread. The BuurOven is a mobile oven that travels through the neighbourhood to bake bread based on cultural recipes from local residents, fostering connection and conversation through baking and sharing.
The activity is free of charge and will be conducted in Dutch. Children and parents are welcome. You can register via werkplaats@framerframed.nl or +31 6 570 936 44.

We’ll be sitting or squatting on the ground; if you have limited mobility, assistance will be available for drawing. In case of heavy rain or wind, the workshop will be rescheduled.
