Symposium: Het Gedeeld Domein
Join the symposium Het Gedeeld Domein at Framer Framed on Friday 20 September 2024, organised by Public Art Amsterdam and Stadscuratorium Amsterdam. The symposium gives a stage to innovative ideas and innovative (art) projects. Professionals from the cultural and creative industries and policymakers will talk about how we can share public space more equally.
Our public space is a shared domain: residents, visitors, entrepreneurs, animals, plants and millions of other organisms have to share the city’s scarce space. From 20 September to 20 October, Public Art Amsterdam showcases them with the multi-day event Het Gedeeld Domein.
Public Art Amsterdam is a collaboration between the seven Amsterdam art institutions Amsterdam Museum, The Beach, CBK Zuidoost, Oude Kerk, Stichting NDSM, Framer Framed and Zone2Source. For a month, Public Art Amsterdam organises thematic presentations, screenings, tours and performances under the name Het Gedeeld Domein. The symposium on 20 September marks the start of Het Gedeeld Domein.
Through talks and case studies, we will discuss how polyphony, the pressure on the city and visual art relate to public space. What policies, which practical tools and what mindset are needed to better shape the city?
During the symposium, artist Reza Afisina, economist and strategist Najah Aouaki and architect and urban planner Wouter Pocornie will share their views on public space as a place for various users. Afterwards, participants will engage in break out sessions with examples by Klaas Kuitenbrouwer, Afaina de Jong (AFARAI), Brasapark, Vrouwen van West and Peng Zhang‘s Moving Rurality.
