IISG – International Institute of Social History is a unique institute, that serves science and society on a global scale. At an international level, it generates and offers reliable information and insights about the (long-term) origins, effects and consequences of social inequality.
To promote this, it forms an international hub for social historians worldwide. It offers and produces historical sources and data, facilitates social-history research and collaborates internationally in groundbreaking research projects.
Moreover, by preserving the heritage of often oppressed social movements, the Institute serves the quality of the world’s memory. With its work, the institute hopes to contribute to a vibrant civil society.
