On show from 12 November to 6 December 2026, Framer Framed hosts the presentation Where is my Home?, displaying the work by remote artist-in-residence Sandra Khzam. The project is centred around an oversized, nostalgic photo album that offers space for collective healing, providing space to explore the impact of losing a home, while simultaneously revealing fortitude.

Khzam is an emerging visual artist and cultural practitioner from Syria, currently based in Lebanon, whose work focuses on storytelling and community healing. Motivated by a deep sense of responsibility towards her community and a personal desire for inner peace, she strives to create safe spaces and explore humanitarian issues through her art.

In line with Khzam’s social practice, she invited artists Duha Jahah, Suzan Khzam and Rasool Awari to join her in a search for belonging. All of them have gone through the experience of losing their concept of ‘home’. The photo album on show functions as a therapeutic platform that provides the possibility to explore the impact of that experience and loss, but simultaneously reveals fortitude. Each artist has been searching for what cannot be taken from them, while walking through the rubble of grief.

Bringing together beloved memories in a series of collages, photographs and drawings, shows the realisation that home is something that’s carried along. The search translates into the pattern of old bathroom tiles; the smile on a mother’s face on a bright sunny day; olive trees dictating a shared communal rhythm. The album is a bundle of resilience and forms a strong statement: legacy is there to remain. The album also forms an invitation: pages have been left empty for visitors to search their feelings of belonging and make contributions for the album. Next to the room where the album is showcased, participants find a workshop space to make their own contribution.

Join the opening on 12 November at 16:00 and sign up here.
