Jamil Fiorino-Habib Jamil Fiorino-Habib
Jamil Fiorino-Habib (he/they) is a PhD candidate at the University of Groningen, where their research examines the infrastructures of film archives across the Southeastern Mediterranean. The project traces how infrastructural capacity is being developed and mobilised to open up transnational circuits of knowledge and resource sharing that go beyond statist and institutional frameworks.
Rooted in anti-colonial praxis, Jamil’s work explores the pedagogical potential of images and archival material as tools to enact more just and free futures. Alongside his academic research, he works as a freelance editor, moderator and cultural worker with grassroots collectives and institutions in the Netherlands, including ISSUE Magazine, de Appel, EYE Filmmuseum, Spui25, Framer Framed and Het Nieuwe Instituut.
