Verzet Per Couplet (Resistance By Verse) are a choir and an accordionist performing protest songs old and new. The choir originates from East Amsterdam, where it was founded by two women over a decade ago in the former Op de Valreep squat. It has since moved to the activist center NieuwLand in the Dapperbuurt. Every other week there is an open rehearsal in the evening where everybody is welcome. Verzet Per Couplet regularly performs at demonstrations and actions, most recently about the city’s housing situation, at book presentations, and other political events.
