About the part that art plays in a globalising society

Framer Framed

Phi-Yen Phan

Phi-Yen Phan is an illustrator & graphic designer from the Netherlands. At the moment she is working as a graphic designer for the clothing brand Costes. Her work includes designing apparel graphics and all over patterns based on latest trend research and market performance information.

As a maker she tries to be as versatile as possible and explore new things from time to time. Inspiration comes from everything around her. The stories she hears from family or friends, the weird Internet life, the news and music.

The way she communicates is through simple forms and lines. I like to use bright, fun colours while giving the viewer a dose of daily reality in a humorous, subtle package. While avoiding all the unnecessary details and focusing on the message I try to make people smile with a touch of weirdness.
