Peik Suyling

Peik Suyling is an artist and baker. In 2012, he founded Bakery de Eenvoud. Eight cultural bakeries have since emerged. Bakery de Eenvoud is an artistic work in progress. The bakeries focus on baking in and with local neighborhood initiatives. The bakeries are spread across the Netherlands: in the province of Groningen in the village of Hongerige Wolf and in Pieterburen, in Rotterdam in Carnisse, a neighborhood in Zuid, in Bospolder-Tussendijken as part of the Huis van de Toekomst (House of the Future), in Amsterdam Nieuw West, in Zaandam at Bind on the Hembrug site, at Werkplaats Molenwijk in Amsterdam, and one in Berlin.

In 2025, at the request of Framer Framed, a new ‘Buuroven’ (Neighboring Oven) was built at Werkplaats Molenwijk in Amsterdam. The BuurOven is a place for people to gather, stoke, bake bread, try things out, learn, and experiment. This way, the neighborhood explores how shared ownership and self-management can take shape around a mobile bakery.
