Malaika Obiefule

Malaika Amaranna Obiefule is a Nigerian-Venezuelan artist, anthropologist and researcher whose multimodal practice explores sound, archives and world-building through decolonial and Pan-African lenses. With a background in anthropology and student leadership in diversity, internationalisation and wellbeing, their work moves beyond academia to imagine alternative modes of education and resistance. They have performed sonic poetry at multiple expositions, co-facilitated interdisciplinary workshops and interned with Africadelic, focusing on archival research and cultural programming. Their current focus includes mask-making as a ritual, pedagogical and imaginative tool.
