Hannah Black is an artist and writer working across installation, video, performance and text. In her often collaborative work, she uses her own writing or interviews with others as a starting point and blends theoretical, historical and personal material. Black’s recent solo shows include HARSH MUTING at Zaza, Naples (2026), HUSH MR GIANT at Arcadia Missa, London (2025), The Directions at Vleeshal, Netherlands (2025) and Marked by a Blank or Occupied by a Lie at Octo, Marseille (2024). Group shows include Nomenclature for the Time Being at Raven Row, London (2026) and Hard Art at MoMA PS1, New York (2026). She often works collaboratively: her film Penumbra (2021) is a collaboration with Juliana Huxtable and the production studio And Or Forever and her performance series Rehearsal for Home (2025-present) is a joint exploration of repetition with Sean Henry-Smith and Soraya Lutangu. She has written for a number of publications, including AFM, 4 Columns and Tank. She is also the author of three books: Tuesday or September or the End (2022), Life (2017), co-written with Juliana Huxtable, and Dark Pool Party (2015).
