Eva Bentcheva

Eva Bentcheva is an art historian and curator. She has a PhD in Art History from SOAS, University of London. Her research concentrates on performance art and conceptualism as transnational media, particularly in South and Southeast Asia and their diasporas in Europe. She is currently the Goethe Institute Postdoctoral Fellow at Haus der Kunst in Munich, developing a research project on performance art in Southeast Asia. She was previously a Visiting Research Fellow (2016) and Adjunct Researcher (2017-18) for the Tate Research Centre: Asia, with a focus on conceptual and performative practices in Philippine art during the 1960s-80s. Since 2015, Eva has been co-director of Batubalani Art Projects along with Noel Ed De Leon, running an independent initiative to promote Philippine art in curatorial practice and academia across Europe.
