Almudena Escobar López

Almudena Escobar López is a scholar, curator and archivist based in Tkaronto. She is Assistant Professor in Film History, Film Preservation, and Collection Management at the School of Image Arts at Toronto Metropolitan University. Her interdisciplinary research focuses on documentary and artists’ moving image practices, while also addressing broader issues related to visual historiography and alternative information ecologies. She works as an independent curator and scholar, having curated film and video programs at institutions such as MoMA, Lincoln Centre, TIFF, Anthology Film Archives, Arsenal, and the Cineteca Nacional de México. Alongside Faraz Anoushahpour, Scott Miller Berry, and Ryan, she is a member of the programming committee of Diffusion in Tkaronto.
