Aiganym Mukhamejan
Aiganym Mukhamejan is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans video, photography, performance, installation, sound and digital culture. Treating everyday life as continuous mise-en-scène, she mobilises irony and intimacy to navigate the porous borders between documentary and dream, ritual and routine. Her precise attention to bodily gesture, ecological grief and Kazakh mythos generates works that frame the self as both lens and battleground.
Mukhamejan’s projects have featured in documenta fifteen (Kassel, 2022), Hošek Contemporary (Berlin, 2025), the Silk Museum (Tbilisi, 2025) and Tselinny Centre of Contemporary Culture (Almaty, 2023). Her films have screened at goEast (Wiesbaden, 2024), Kurzfilm Festival Hamburg (Hamburg, 2024) and multiple Central Asian experimental platforms, while ARTE TV broadcast a dedicated interview-portrait in 2025.
Currently based in Amsterdam, she is a participant of De Ateliers Residency (2024-26) and a laureate of the Prince Claus Seed Award (2024).
