Pedro Manuel

Pedro Manuel is a Portuguese theatre maker and educator based in Amsterdam. His work bridges performance, artistic research, and teaching in the fields of aesthetics, theatre studies, and performance theory. His research connects performance studies with post-human philosophies, including object-oriented thinking, new materialism, and spectrality. His PhD explored “theatre without actors” — performances involving spectators, non-actors, technology, or natural phenomena — examining how they stage the real and rehearse new forms of co-presence and perception between humans and non-humans. Alongside his academic work, he develops performances and projects that explore the tension between making appear and make-believe, often through text, demonstration, and participation.
