Committee Against Samcheok Coal-Fired Power Plant (CASCPP)
The Committee Against Samcheok Coal-Fired Power Plant (CASCPP), 삼척석탄화력 반대투쟁위원회, was formed on January 29, 2018 to stop the coal-fired power plant under construction by POSCO and Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction (named Blue Power). The CASCPP has been carrying out various daily activities, ranging from picketing (711 times as of April 9, 2023) in front of Samcheok Post Office, a site of historical significance in Samcheok anti-nuclear movement, to protests at Maengbang Beach which has been destroyed by the construction of coal unloading dock for the power plant (908 times) and to eco-walks or ‘pilgrimages’ against nuclear and coal-fired power plants as well as transmission towers (349 times). The CASCPP organized two pilgrimages from Samcheok to Seoul, covering the places with nuclear and coal-fired power plants and transmission towers. It is spearheading the struggle against coal-fired power plants through rallies, press conferences, and religious ceremonies.
삼척석탄화력 반대투쟁위원회는 포스코와 두산중공업에서 건설 중인 석탄발전소(삼척블루파워)를 저지하기 위해 2018년 1월 29일 결성되었다. 삼척핵발전소를 백지화시킨 반핵운동의 상징적 장소인 삼척 우체국 앞에서 피켓시위(2023년 4월 9일까지 711회), 블루파워의 석탄항만 공사가 진행 중인 맹방해변에서 천막농성(908회), 탈핵∙탈석탄∙탈송전탑을 기원하는 시내 도보순례(탈탈탈 순례, 349회), 매주 수요일 탈탈탈 수요미사(26회)를 진행하고 있다. 삼척에서 서울까지 핵발전소, 석탄발전소, 송전탑으로 신음하는 지역들을 아우르는 탈탈탈 도보순례를 두 차례 진행했고, 집회, 기자회견, 종교행사(미사, 예배), 삼보일배 등을 통해 탈석탄 투쟁에 앞장서고 있다.
