About the part that art plays in a globalising society

Framer Framed

Zaldy Armansyah

Zaldy Armansyah is an artist who works with printmaking, drawing, and photography. He also likes to collect newspaper clippings, so collecting photo archives from the internet is not a totally new experience. His main interest in his works lies in Islamic spiritualism. This is the base of his world view and how he perceives art. From this world view, it branches into any kind of issue, may it be about history, archive, city space or colonialism.

He was part of the exhibition Sensible Past: Of Distances and the Fabrication of the Frame, a collaboration between Framer Framed, KITLV and the Integrated Arts programme at UNPAR, in Gedung Balai Pemuda in Surabaya, Indonesia.
