Jori Snels

Dr. Jori Snels (she/her) is a cultural analysis scholar and a lecturer at Leiden University and Utrecht University. In 2025 she completed a joint doctorate at the University of Amsterdam (Amsterdam School for Cultural Analysis) and Western Sydney University (Institute for Culture and Society) with a dissertation titled Sinofuturism as Worlding: Imagining Futures in Sinophone Digital Art. Through a cultural analysis approach grounded in art historical and ethnographic methods, Jori studies how digital art imagines and brings into being different futures. Her work has been published in Screen Bodies, World Art, Art and the Public Sphere, and Tijdschrift voor Geschiedenis.
