Sajad Salmanpour

Sajad Salmanpour (he/him) is a symbol of intersectionality. He is a sociology researcher, a community organiser and also works as a pharmaceutical operator at Johnson&Johnson, bringing together lived experience, academic insight and professional expertise. As the founder of Queer Work, Sajad believes that empowerment begins with employment. Their mission is to support LGBTQIA+ refugees in finding meaningful work or education that leads to employment, helping them gain independence, dignity, and a strong sense of belonging.

With a strong background in academia and hands-on community work, Sajad is deeply committed to creating lasting and inclusive social change. His work centers around advocacy, intersectionality, and resilience, always guided by the belief that everyone deserves access to opportunity—regardless of background, status, or identity. He is also proud to be the co-author of De Vrije Vogels van Amsterdam. Sajad: “From my involvement in projects like LIMBO and the Refugee Academy, to grassroots organising and cultural programming, I have continuously sought ways to elevate marginalised voices and build inclusive systems that work for all.”
