About the part that art plays in a globalising society

Faraz

Faraz (he/they) was born and raised in Iran, where his feminine energy — in both movement and manner — was met with discomfort and disapproval by society. From a young age, this led to shame and a fractured sense of self. His pole dance journey began years later in the Netherlands during his student life, offering a space to explore and embrace the very qualities he was once told to suppress. Now, as a queer artist and asylum seeker, Faraz transforms that once-rejected softness into strength, reclaiming his body, voice and power.
