Ruud Priem
Ruud Priem (b.1969) studied art history at the university of Padova and Utrecht. Priem worked for the Research School of Art History in Utrecht and for the research institute of the J. Paul Getty Museum in LA. As a guest curator for the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, from 2001-2010 he made a series of exhibitions about Dutch art from the 17th century. These traveled to different museums on four continents. Priem was conservator Ancient Art at Museum Het Valkhof in Nijmegen, and until 2014 artistic director and head conservator at Museum Catherijneconvent in Utrecht.
Priem was a guest speaker for the debate Collecting without boundaries. Creating a future-proof museum at Framer Framed in 2014. He was also the director of Dutch Art & Heritage, where he gave advice to curators, museums, cultural institutions and private collections. For his PhD at Utrecht University, he researched the history of painting collections in the Netherlands between 1775-1850. Besides this, Priem is a member of the board of Vereniging Rembrandt, chairman of the jury of the BankGiro Loterij Museumprijs and chairman of three committees of the Mondriaan Stichting. He is currently the Curator of International Collections, Musée National d’Histoire et d’Art in Luxembourg.
