SAVE THE DATE: Opening of Framer Framed in Amsterdam Oost
We are happy to announce that Framer Framed is moving to Amsterdam-Oost. After five years, and more than forty exhibitions and many hundreds of programs, it is now time to leave the building in the Tolhuistuin. In August our exhibitions and programs will be relocated to Oranje-Vrijstaatkade 71 in the purification hall of the former Oostergasfabriek.
The exhibitions of Framer Framed are at the intersection of contemporary art, visual culture and politics. The exhibitions show work by known and unknown artists who are active worldwide and relate to social issues. When putting together exhibitions, Framer Framed offers a stage to established curators and artists as well as new names. Framer Framed believes that the art world could and should be more inclusive, more global and more interdisciplinary, with an eye for the local context. Based on the conviction that art should not only be exhibited in the center of the city, Framer Framed opened a second project space in 2018 in Molenwijk in Amsterdam-Noord. Framer Framed will bring the world and the neighborhood together at the new location. The building that we move into is equipped for the visual arts, so that the organization can immediately make a start on the exhibitions, education and public programming. The new location offers many opportunities to strengthen our national and international profile. And as in Amsterdam-Noord, we will relate to the local context in East and develop programs with partners on the spot. We have therefore entered into a partnership with Stadsdeel Oost. We look forward to entering into valuable exchanges in a network of cultural and social organizations in Amsterdam East, and to make a new start at a beautiful new location.
