Documentary: Zwart Belicht by Tessa Boerman

The documentary Zwart belicht (2008) by Tessa Boerman reveals the black characters in the paintings of old Dutch masters like Peter Paul Rubens and some artists in his immediate circle. The film sheds new light on famous and less famous works, but also our history and culture. This film entices us to look again at that what has been studied extensively, and that what has systematically been neglected.
